Masao Yamamoto For Woolrich
For its Spring/Summer 2012 campaign, Woolrich John Rich & Bros. has chosen to collaborate with the Japanese artist , Masao Yamamoto. Every image is a work of art, printed on photographic paper, with beautiful colours created thanks to special hand development techniques . The end result is a campaign characterised by a rarefied atmosphere, featuring warm, unique colours.
Masao Yamamoto lives in Yamanashi, the mountainous Japanese prefecture, with his wife and son. He loves to observe the changes in nature and take in the smell of the first fruits of Spring. He leads a simple, archaic life, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. His career began with painting before becoming a photographer.
In 1993 he presents a series entitled " A box of Ku"; in 2001 he presents the series entitled " Nakazora". He creates a poetic world through an "installation", made up of several, small photos. In 2007 he starts working on his new research, entitled "Kawa-flow", focusing on single works in order to highlight the photographic quality to the maximum. In recent years his work is also exhibited in public museums and photo festivals, in addition to commercial galleries.
In 2011, 18 years after the creation of his first photography book entitled " Box of Ku", his latest book entitled "Prism Book" is released, offering a closer look into the world of one of the leading names in the Japanese photographic industry.
